Ever wonder how stiff, dirty-looking pieces of scrap metal and rocks turn to fine, exquisite pieces of art? Well, it’s not that hard really, at least when you’ve mastered it. When you wear a piece of jewelry, whether it be a iced-out ring, shocking stud, or simply your mother’s bracelet, you see just that. But behind every single piece is a whole adventure hiding beneath. If every detail was uncovered from their stories, we’d be sitting here for hours. So to sum it up, here’s how it goes. As we know, there exists very brave people mining for gold in places others wouldn’t dare to go. Those individual flakes of gold get a family and become chunks of gold. Through long and tiresome journeys, that gold reaches the hands of our own jewelers. But before they get to dive into the fun, the designers have to visualize the perfection about to be made and move on to make a wax mold of them. When that’s complete, the jewelers melt the gold and pour in into the wax mold. When it cools off and is now solid, VOILA we have a shape! But that’s not the end. It still looks old and unfinished at this point. Something is missing. Something bright and shiny. Stones! And no; there’s no machine that puts in the diamonds or what has it. It’s the jewelers using their hands and tools. When the piece finally has its ice and has been polished, it’s ready to go! So the next time you put on a piece of jewelry, remember the adventure it went through to get to YOU!
